Chris Heaton

A languages graduate from Durham University, Chris qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1986.

He spent 6 years as a professional trainer in Leeds, Sheffield and London, specialising in Company Law, Taxation and Auditing.

Clients ranged from multi-nationals to small local firms, and included local authority and health service organisations.

Since then Chris has worked as Managing Director, Chief Executive and Finance Director initially specialising in turn rounds, restructuring and restoration of profitability. Latterly he has been involved with high growth private companies pursuing both organic growth and growth through acquisition and disposal.

Unusually, Chris has worked successfully across many sectors. In the private sector he has operated at director level in manufacturing, engineering, IT, training, recruitment, membership services and representation. He has also been on the Board of several public and voluntary sector bodies and initiatives in both Leeds and Sheffield.

In addition to his normal duties, Chris has continued to develop and deliver training and workshops both in-house to increase the effectiveness of his own staff, and externally to clients in the public and private sectors.

Chris has had many articles and columns published, and has authored various technical manuals.

On a personal note, although work takes him all over the UK, Chris and his family have been based in Sheffield for many years. In a vain attempt to roll back the years, Chris tries to keep fit in his spare time and has run (slowly) several marathons! In May 2010 Chris completed the Brathay Cahllenge of 10 marathons in 10 days and in doing so became the 30th of 32 people ever to achieve this.
